Makay T. Caskey, corporate and personal tax accountant, edmonton

Who We Are

CLEAR COMMUNICATORS

We talk to our clients. The more we know about you (your company and your family), the better we can help find you tax savings.

KNOWLEDGEABLE

With over 36 years of combined accounting experience, we have built a team of people with the knowledge and skills to ensure maximum benefits to your business.

YOUR BIGGEST ADVOCATE

The CRA assesses returns incorrectly on a regular basis. Far too often, people simply accept the increased tax bill. We get to the bottom of it and fight for your rightful deductions.

APPROACHABLE

We want to make sure you are comfortable with the accounting process, and that you understand your options.

RESPONSIVE

We return phone calls and emails. We have a team of professionals to look after your needs.

Makay Caskey, CPA, CA

CHARTERED PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT

Makay Caskey is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with over 20 years of experience working in public practice with small to medium-sized businesses. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in 1998 followed by his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 2002.  He started his accounting career with Ernst and Young in 1998 as an articling student, where he worked on audits for small to large businesses. In 2003 an opportunity led him to Grand Cayman, where worked at PwC primarily doing hedge fund audits for small to large businesses.  In 2005 he moved over to UBS where he worked in the hedge funds sectors until he moved back to Edmonton in 2007.  Makay resumed public accounting in 2007 working as a tax accountant at Meyer Norris Penney.  Makay took the in-depth tax course while working at MNP, and this opportunity has provided him with invaluable tax experience, which he uses to this day.  Shortly after resuming life in Canada, he realized his true passion was working as a sole practitioner and Makay started his own practice in 2008. While financial statements and tax returns are part of the occupation, consulting and assisting clients to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams is his true passion.

When Makay is not working hard for his clients, you can catch him on the slopes in the winter and on the golf course in the summer.  He is also passionate about his ball hockey team, in which he tries to keep up with his son who just recently joined his ball hockey team. Makay is a huge hockey and NFL enthusiast, with the Edmonton Oilers and Arizona Cardinals being his number one teams.

Amber holds a B.Sc. degree with a specialization in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta.  She has worked in management at the Royal Alexandra and Glenrose Rehabilitation hospitals.  She took a hiatus from this role in 2003 when she moved to Grand Cayman for 4 years. While living in Grand Cayman, she worked for Cayman Management as a key administrative assistant. Since moving back from Grand Cayman in 2007, Amber has devoted her time as a stay at home mom, raising her 3 kiddos. Amber was a past board member on a school fund-raising committee, has previously managed her children’s sports teams, and currently volunteers her time to various organizations when she can.

Some of Amber’s favorite pastimes include anything outdoors, traveling to places where english is not the first language, watching true crime shows, spending time with friends and family, and cuddling with her two dogs: a hyperactive Schnoodle and a sweet and spicy little Shih Tzu.
